Massive Attack to Headline 100% Battery-Powered Festival

Massive Attack will headline East London’s new LIDO Festival this summer with a fully battery-powered performance aimed at reducing carbon emissions and local air pollution. The show, set for June 6 in Victoria Park, marks the band’s first London festival appearance in nine years and continues their commitment to climate-conscious events.

The performance is part of a wider initiative to promote sustainable live music, following the band’s ACT 1.5 decarbonisation event in Bristol last year. That concert, described as a “large-scale climate action accelerator,” marked 25 years of the group’s environmental activism. At LIDO, Massive Attack will collaborate with United Visual Artists and filmmaker Adam Curtis to set a new standard for eco-friendly outdoor concerts.

“To present London’s first-ever 100% battery-powered festival day with a dynamic range of artists is an optimum outcome for us,” said Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja. He added that the festival builds on the lessons learned from ACT 1.5 to apply sustainable technologies to live performances. Other acts joining the line-up on June 6 include Air, Tirzah, and Yasiin Bey & The Alchemist, with LIDO Festival running across two weekends in June.
