Ibiza Underground Club Shut Down by Local Authorities Over Licensing Issues
Ibiza Underground, a popular nightclub located in the village of San Rafael, has been closed by local authorities due to licensing issues.
The City Council of San Antonio ordered the closure after an inspection revealed that the venue was hosting nightclub events despite only holding a catering license. The venue’s operation as a club was deemed to pose serious risks to both patrons and neighbours, resulting in a significant fine.
According to a report by Nou Diary, Ibiza Underground was found to be in violation of Balearic Islands Law 7/2013, which mandates that venues must have a specific license if sound equipment exceeds 80dB. The inspection, which occurred on July 31, determined that the venue’s kitchen was not in operation, and that it lacked the necessary acoustic treatment to comply with noise control regulations. As a result, the City Council issued a €60,000 sanction against the club and ordered its immediate closure.
Ibiza Underground confirmed the closure on social media, stating that the venue was closed without prior notification, and that they are currently working to resolve the issue. The club has not yet announced if or when it will be able to reopen.
