Ibiza Nightclub Eden Cancels Space Residency Amid Legal Dispute, Launches NOSPACE Party
Eden Ibiza has cancelled its Space residency and introduced a new Friday night party, NOSPACE, following a legal dispute over the rights to the Space Ibiza trademark.
The decision comes after a Valencia court annulled the rights to the Space brand previously held by founder Pepe Roselló.
Last month, a Valencia commercial court ruled in favour of the Matutes family, owners of Fiesta Hotels & Resorts SL, in a legal battle over the Space Ibiza trademark. This ruling resulted in the annulment of Roselló’s rights to the brand, which he registered in 2008. The court determined that the Space Ibiza trademark, along with its logo, caused confusion with an earlier registered brand owned by the Matutes family. As a result, Eden Ibiza was compelled to rename its 24-week Space residency to NOSPACE, accompanied by a new logo that diverges from the original Space Ibiza imagery.
NOSPACE will run every Friday from August 9 to October 4, with the slogan “Embrace the Night, NOSPACE for Sleep.” This move, as stated by Eden Ibiza’s owner, is aimed at preserving the club’s Friday night presence in San Antonio, which has become a significant tradition for the Ibiza clubbing community. The ruling also impacts other associated Space Ibiza brands, including ‘Space Dance Barcelona’ and ‘Space Dance Madrid,’ among others.
