Fatman Scoop Dies After On-Stage Collapse in Connecticut

US rapper Fatman Scoop has died after collapsing during a live performance in Hamden, Connecticut, on Friday, 30 August.

The 53-year-old artist, born Isaac Freeman III, experienced a medical emergency while headlining a free event at Hamden Town Center Park. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later passed away.

The news was confirmed by Fatman Scoop’s tour manager, Pure Cold, who expressed his grief in an emotional Instagram post, stating he was “lost for words.” Fatman Scoop’s family also released a statement, describing him as a “radiant soul” and a “constant source of support,” while the rap community, including artists like Snoop Dogg and Ty Dolla $ign, shared their condolences.

Fatman Scoop is best known for his 2003 hit ‘Be Faithful’ and his Grammy Award-winning collaboration with Missy Elliott on the 2005 track ‘Lose Control’. Tributes continue to flood social media, with Missy Elliott, Questlove, Ciara, and others honouring his impact on the music industry.
